Archery Lessons: 3rd Module

Our third module of archery lessons started last Saturday, May 27. The following are the students:

  1. Alvaro
  2. Arkon
  3. Carla
  4. Chean
  5. Chip
  6. Dani
  7. Jill
  8. John
  9. Miguel

At the start there was no target mat since Coach Bert & Vince wanted us to concentrate with our form first. After a few rounds of shooting, Coach Vince taped a small triangle- shaped target for us to shoot. It was fun because all of us continued up to this point. And there are nine of us now instead of five! =) Most of us extended for another thirty minutes or so after the lesson for that day (bonding! hehe...).

Oh well, see you all next Saturday! =P

Tournament # 2 & Field Archery (aka “hunting”)

The 2nd tournament signals the end of another unforgettable batch of archery lessons. It was held today and the first and second classes were combined. There were nine of us who competed. Here are the top 4 students in the tournament:

1. Alvaro
2. John
3. Dani
4. Miguel

Of course, the fun part was that even though you lost, may taho ka parin! Hehe!! Thanks coach Bert!

The much awaited “hunting” activity was held yesterday and the other day. (sayang walang pictures!! Nakalimutan ko yung camera… ) It was a new experience. At first it was ok. We walk (and sometimes run) on the grass where we take our aim and shoot on the target some 10- 18 meters away. But as time went by, we realized that there were a lot of big red ants (mga best friend ni Dani! jke lng po!) climbing into our shoes and biting our feet! This was one of the challenges. We still had to take the wind into consideration and not to mention, TIME PRESSURE!! Despite these challenges, we had a lot of fun! Nanlibre din kasi si coach Bert ng taho! Mmmm…. Sarap! =P

So if you’re interested to learn archery, it’s not too late! There will be another 10 sessions every Saturday starting next week. For more information pls. go or contact the College of Human Kinetics at UP Diliman and look for Coach Bert or Coach Vince. (nag advertise daw ba? hehe…) Hope to see you next week! =P

Rain, rain, go away...?

Summer is about to end and the rainy season is fast approaching. Most people will like it because of the cool temperature, but honestly, how are we suppose to shoot outdoors with this type of weather? (no hard feelings Mother Nature! =P)

Together with this gloomy- like weather is a gloomy- like news- it was Katria's last class today. She won't be able to make it next week because she's going to the US of A. But she said that she'll be back this June. Bon Voyage, Katria! =D Take Care!

As for the remaining five of us? We'll continue shooting until next Thursday. Hopefully, we'll have an extension (haha.. joke lng coach! =P).

Anyway, have a nice weekend and see you all on Monday! =D

Discover Archery

After 10 days of learning the basics of archery, six out of nine students in the class decided to continue to the advanced lessons, which will last for another 10 sessions (yehey!). These are the remaining students:

  1. Arkon
  2. Chean
  3. Dani
  4. Jill
  5. John
  6. Katria

We have 2 new classmates (sorry, I don't know they're names yet). One of the new students even has his own bow and arrows (ang dami kasi niyang arrow). Coach Bert said that it's a hunting bow (sosyal nga eh, kasi naka compound bow pa sya!) But, as John & I said, "Balang araw magkakaroon din tayo ng bow!" hehe...

Anyway, Coach Vince was the one teaching our new classmates, while the remaining 6 of us (ang mga "LUMA" as Coach Vince would say) were taught by Coach Bert.

Our lesson today focused generally on the way we grip the bow. I read on one book that the proper way to grip the bow was not to grip at all! hehe.. that's what Coach Bert also taught us. Kaya pala parang nababali yung mga wrist ng ibang archers pag release... natural lang pala yun. Saka ngayun ko lang nalaman na may tali pala sila sa kamay kaya hindi nalalaglag yung bow! Hindi kasi halata...

Hopefully, we can get to shoot with Trixy, Ervin, & Marevick again (para masaya!)

See you all on Monday! =P

FINGERTAB

Hi! Welcome to FINGERTAB!

I created this blog so that the students as well as the coaches of this year's U.P. Archery Summer Recreation Program can have a means of communication (other than the telephone) even after finishing the course. You can also post the pictures you've taken in the archery range in this blog so that the whole class can have a copy. Just e-mail the picture to me or give me a CD copy, and I'll upload it here.

I'll try putting a tagboard also; but in the mean time, feel free to sign the guestbook.

If you want to post something in this blog, just e-mail it to me and I'll post it here with your name on it.

Hope you like it! hehehe....

see you in the archery range!
